Cantores del Mundo was created in 2008 by Tita Parra (granddaughter of the iconic folklorist Violeta Parra) for the release of her albums and collaborative projects. The name of the label is a reference to a song by Tita Parra that was recorded in 1978 on the album"Amigos tengo por cientos". The song was titled"A los cantores del mundo"and was dedicated to Victor Jara, a popular singer-songwriter who died during the Chilean dictatorship. The label's first logo was a fragment of a painting by Violeta Parra.

Cantores del Mundo is inspired by folk and popular music, and its mission as a label is to help maintain the legacy of the many Latin American artists who have traversed the continent, breaking down borders and bringing people together through music. They strive to showcase authentic artists, blending Brazilian, Latin American, jazz, and global influences — curated with a focus on quality and cultural diversity.
